I’ve unclothed me of the
filigreed cob-web. Trusted guard
reason savors her long-due release;
and I dote on to mine—listening to
the oar of the boat, singing an andante.
The stars high, reminds the
square sky of a citadel, where
the walls paint colours albino,
the clock walks the mortar skin,
leaving trails of a recurring echo.
The river flows overwhelming,
pouring in to the canoe; a requiem
wants to silence the steer. Swirling
in twirls. Water carousel in
waltz. A dénouement
unfurls.

'VAMPIRE STORY'
by June Nandy
It was not at the restaurant doors only
that Gandhi stood as a durwan. He wriggled
in mom’s purse too; she said, he is an austere
cross to the Dracula. I thought—freedom
meant: right to choose.
Friends say vampires are seductive,
when they peer through the sky-boards
from gilt-edged bath-tub or flaunt the
bond with dry martini. They say—love
marks give status to anonymous.
Now I understand, why stories
of success makes me anemic.
