—a poem by Ivan Jenson

It is crystal clear
that you are looking
for your world
to come into focus
and that you are
trying to turn up
the volume on
the secret
gossip that whispers
through the trees
that block your
view to the forest
but sometimes you
have to take
your reading glasses
off and put your
3D glasses on
to understand that
your experience
is less “high-drama”
and more “low-brow”
geared toward
the lowest common
and despite
your pretense
you have to admit
you are exactly
the demographic
they are pandering to
and you fell for it
hook line
and stinker,
you shallow
deep thinker
