Near Misses
—poetry by Ivan Jenson

I no longer
visualize the ideal
instead I see beauty
in the sloppy seconds
in every hour
you know
those times
when somebody
stumbles after a
Freudian slip
but does not
fall into despair
instead they laugh
but not at themselves
while outside
some car swerves
out of the way
before hitting
another pedestrian
