Still A Chance |
by Ivan Jenson

Publishers Clearing House
has yet to knock
that check has yet to come
the sun does not peek out
between the clouds
the picnic is canceled
due to lightning
that has yet to strike
my favorite guest
is a no-show
and the dry cleaners
have yet to press
that starched shirt
I often wear instead
of confidence
and most of my
key friends are
otherwise occupied
otherwise I would
have heard back
from them
by now
and I guess
my pants are not
pressed
and my thoughts
are wrinkled
but that
doesn't mean
there isn’t
someone special
out there
with the ability
to turn my life
upside down
so that
real
change
might fall
from my
pockets
