Bad Poets with Bad Poetry
—a poem by Jessica Hylton

I’m here to be snapped
Into a frenzy of vocabulary
That seems much more elegant
Because I’m all in black
After I’ve wowed you
With the intensity
Of my pensive stare
I’ll shock you by speaking
Of dripping genitals
But I’ll get away with it
Not because society sucks
And people only want to cause
Each other pain—but because
I am a poet and can feel this pain
So much deeper than you
I’ll pause.
Letting you see
The how tragic it is
To be burdened with my emotions
You’ll find me attractive

And we’ll fuck
