Nuclear Nostalgia
The fear never went away, was just replaced by other lesser anxieties and fears, by addiction, and finally subsided to the back of my mind. But lately I find myself in a time-warp nuclear nostalgia. Instead of Reagan against the Russians, it's Bush Jr. against Iran. The “Terrorists”, by Evil, have replaced the “Commies”. As a teenager I trembled, danced to the edge of destruction because it seemed obvious the End was near. Now I have been thrown back into that bleak picture of the future End. But I am ready this time.
I will not surrender my soul to the monstrous parade of hate and fear.
