Victorious
—a poem by Linda Imbler

Find your moment of courage,
Wretchedness will help no one.
Find valor on your feet,
not fear.
Be not cowardly,
nor surrender,
nor be of disuse.
Begin when the sky is darkest,
when the road looks the longest.
Step forth, don’t lose heart.
Indeed,
having it in your throat already defeats you.
