AN OLD SUIT
— a poem by Luis Cuauhtémoc Berriozábal

AN OLD SUIT

I wear an old suit that
would not inspire envy.
It does not pretend to
be more than it is.

This old suit fits me well.
My worn shoes need new
soles. They would not mind
if a bandit absconds with them.

I know who I am.
I know where I want to go.
I am without ambition.
I’m just living this life
as fierce as it could be.
I toast to the time I have left.
