Foregone Conclusion |
by Marty Weil

Our dissatisfied uncle Schopenhauer
transferring his soul to ours
his will
from one generation to the next.
Regeneration, rebirth, and revival now history.
Creation accomplished by sowing good
not by uprooting evil.
Like the paintings of Naucratis,
we all suffer metempsychosis.
Death is worthy of homage
as the cradle of life
as the womb of palingenesis.
Every folk ritual the world over reaches the same conclusion.
Why can’t we?
