Know Thyself
—a poem by Dennis Paul Wilken

Know Thyself

Had to walk the earth
Ten years longer than Jesus
To learn one basic fact
About myself –

Even after all these years
Of this and that
Relationship
Breaking up on the
Rocks of day-to-day
Reality like
Pirate ships
Captained by the blind

I’d still,
Sick or Well,
Rather eat pussy
Than chicken noodle soup.
