'BROKEN LIVES - DEMENTIA ONE'
by Dennis Paul Wilken

Cracking shell of bones
Gnarled hands
Violently paw the clotted air
Giving the lie
To the accepted idea
Of worthwhile lives, well lived, will ended;
Choked voices
Stream into the void,
Once well-ordered brains
Baked harder then week old bread,
Now, all is pain,
Everything forgotten
That made them them
And the worst is yet to come.
