Love Letter to Picasso

by Jennifer Best

picasso-a-go-go.
horseless carousel dance
spinning an endless solo riff
we go on opium smoke
piped
over a sea of pilgrim white
marching for immigrant rights
me and picasso oh we go way back
him and i
tied a scarf around our neck
and hung from the balcony
for arts sake
we go on
puff
opium
puff
another cracked outsider disaster
by the water
where we dipped our brushes
old picasso
with his firm fingers
and proud cock walk
to which god do we pray?
the dog of art
